Summer 2024

In July players of all levels flocked to Orlando to be trained by Arsenal Football Development coaches and in August FUSE (https://fusesoccer.com/) brought Arsenal Football Development to Japan where camps ran for 2 weeks in Yokohama and Hokkaido with almost 200 youth players getting the opportunity to gain an understanding of what it takes to play for Arsenal’s academy. 

November 2024
In November, FUSE welcomed a group from the US to London for five days of coaching and cultural exploration. Participants toured the Emirates Stadium, walked through Arsenal’s historic Highbury grounds, and trained at the Arsenal Hub. They shopped at the Armoury and cheered during a watch party, joined by Gunnersaurus, for Arsenal’s 5-1 Champions League win in Lisbon.

The trip also included attending multiple live Premier League matches. Thanksgiving was celebrated in style with a special dinner for participants, parents, and siblings in central London. The experience blended soccer, culture, and camaraderie, creating unforgettable memories for this group of young Gunners.

Arsenal Football Development Coaching

Training sessions in America, Japan and London were built around our Strong Young Gunner model, with 4 distinct development areas: Effective team players, Efficient movers, Lifelong Learners and Champion Mentality. This is the same model utilised by our academy, led by Per Mertesacker. 

Players improved their technical and tactical skills along with learning how develop key football movements. In addition to this, kids were taught the importance of adopting a learning mindset and how to seize each moment to maximise their potential. 

The Arsenal Football Development coaches’ main goal is to ensure that each player develops on and off the pitch by learning the above in a nurturing and enjoyable environment while learning to ‘Play the Arsenal Way’. The coaches introduced the players to fundamentals necessary to succeed in the modern game while giving them new drills and fresh perspectives to enhance their holistic development. 

Once the camps were over, players got their evaluation certificates and some personal advice on how to continue to develop their game from the Arsenal Football Development coaches. Players of the week were also announced where they received Arsenal merchandise, including signed Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka Arsenal shirts alongside a selection of Arsenal pins and notebooks.
